Licensing, Trademarks and Commercial Products

Colorado State University is the sole owner of its name, symbols, graphics and marks. Only officially licensed vendors may apply the university name, symbols, graphics and/or marks to products.

On-Campus Communications and Products

If you are a CSU student or a member of the faculty or staff, there are four steps to using the institutional name, symbols, graphics and/or marks.

  • You must adhere to the University’s graphic standards and other guidelines, as listed in the Communicator’s Toolbox.
  • You must adhere to the Uniform Communications Assurance Policy outlined in the Communicator’s Toolbox.
  • You must have artwork for your item approved by the appropriate staff member as listed below:
    • Varsity and sport club items (apparel, uniforms and equipment) - Artwork must be approved by Michelle Fargher, Assistant Director of Marketing and Licensing, at 970-491-5433 or michelle.fargher@colostate.edu.
    • Items for internal use - Artwork must be approved by Communication and Creative Services, contact Natalie McCatty at 970-491-4179.
    • Web sites and electronic communications - The Department of Web Communications approves Web sites, contact Leslie Hilbert at 970-491-1128.
  • You must use a licensed vendor to manufacture your item.
